UNITED STATES ECONEWS NETWORK
Air, free-of-charge, this nation's longest-running weekly, half-hour television series about our environment. There are over 425 shows in the award-winning ECONEWS series. Having a weekly program about the ecological problems and solutions should make a valuable addition to your programming lineup. ECONEWS is produced and distributed by Educational Communications, Inc., a non-profit, tax-exempt, volunteer organization, which produces innovative educational films, and video and radio programs
Your responsibility in the United States ECONEWS Network will center around:
(a) scheduling at least one regular weekly time slot for the series; and
(b) prompt and efficient shipping of tapes to the next cable operator in the network each week by First Class Mail or UPS in a non-fiber, padded envelope.
We cannot call each week (and you probably do not want to hear from us each week); so we assume all is fine unless we hear from you. Let us know of any problems immediately (bad tape, no tape according to schedule, etc.). We want high-quality shows on the air and want to be sure that you have what you need on time.
The ECONEWS team creates a computerized schedule every twelve weeks for you to follow for the mailings. We also provide you with labels and other useful material s-titles, highlights, log sheets, etc. As long as you air the tapes and follow procedures, there is no charge for the shows. Since we are not underwritten and have no major funding, your cooperation is essential.
There are over 100 outlets on- our ECONEWS network (PBS stations and local origination, public access, governmental, and school channels). We have a 3/4" weekly bicycle, a 1/2" VHS weekly bicycle, and a 3/4" no-rerun bicycle. If you reimburse us for shipping, we will send bulk quantities independently of a bicycle. We can also provide free-of-charge a complete collection or selected tapes for permanent archives or library collections.
Executive Producer Nancy Pearlman's business phone (with a short-message machine) is (310) 202-7553. For urgent calls only, her pager number is (310) 775-0125. If you are sending tapes to us by UPS or other courier services, our street address will be provided to you upon request.
The sign up form will serve to confirm your interest in participating in the United States ECONEWS Network and give us start-up information. Please complete and return it to the above address as soon as possible so that we may add your company or groups to the currently operating network. If you have facilities that we can use for studio taping or editing, or crew to go overseas on field shoots (all expenses paid), please let us know.
Again, thank you for your interest. We look forward to working with you.
